SASKATOON BRIDGE CLUB

NEWSLETTER

December, 2004

_________________________________________________________

We have reached the end of another year, filled with many individual accomplishments. The fall season was filled with many club championships, national events and STaC's and was topped off with two Christmas luncheons and an evening Christmas party. The executive has been busy as well being involved in the planning for the expansions and renovations of the bridge club.

SOME OF THE MORE SIGNIFICANT ACHIEVEMENTS:

1. The adoption of a SCENT FREE POLICY to ensure a comfortable playing atmosphere for all players. If someone's perfume, after shave, etc. causes you discomfort, please contact a director.

2. The ratification of the plans for an expansion and renovation of the bridge club at a special general meeting. There was enormous support from the membership for the project. The building committee and the architect are now proceeding with the plans with completion slated for the fall of 2005. A committee of three members from the executive has been formed to look after the financing of the project.

3. The increase of fees - regular games are now $4.00; charity games are $5.00 and special games are $6.00.

4. Our Education Program under the leadership of Verla Zerebesky is flourishing. There are two Beginner Bridge programs taught by June Ogilvie and Ken Connell and the Club and Diamond Series taught by Verla Zerebesky and Shirley Porter. More classes are being offered in the new year. Look for the flyers at the club and the club website regarding times and classes offered.

5. A yearly Life Master party was scheduled for October of each year to celebrate those earning Life Master status during that year.

6. Our Friday evening sanction was changed to Saturday night to facilitate a "party bridge night" on those months when activities are such that an added activity would not be a burden. Look in your datebook and the Upcoming Events board for further information.
