NEWSLETTER

JANUARY 2002 EDITOR: Liz Warren

_________________________________________________________

A new year has begun and I hope everyone had a great holiday season. A lot of people were away for the holidays and quite a few have left us to winter in the warm states. I hope everyone returns to enjoy the many club activities coming up in the following months.

MESSAGES FROM YOUR PRESIDENTS

NEW HORIZONS

On behalf of the New Horizons Executive, I want to extend to all our members our hope for health and happiness in the year 2002 including lots of good bridge. We're glad to see that the room is nearly full most Mondays. We're also pleased to see a number of new players including some who have "graduated" from the first stages of EasyBridge!. Good luck to everyone.

Garth Thomas

BRANCH

On behalf of your Branch Executive, I wish to welcome everyone to 2002. We hope to see you often playing bridge and enjoying the wonderful friendships, the sense of home and, of course, the excitement of competition. We encourage you to make suggestions or give us your comments or concerns so that together, we can continue to have such a great bridge club.

June Ogilivie

SASKATOON DUPLICATE BRIDGE CLUB

Due to the recent death of her mother, Linda Connell's message was not available but I know she wishes everyone a pleasant and successful year of bridge.

Evelyn Sisonenko is the ACBL LIASON and is ably assisted by Dorothy Sieffert. Thanks, Evelyn, for the tremendous job you do coordinating all the people and events and activities that take place at our club.

Ruth Schumacher is that person in charge of the maintenance of the club. Thanks, Ruth, for the job you perform so efficiently and effectively.

WE STILL NEED A SOCIAL CONVENOR FOR THE EVENING ACTIVITES. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED OR KNOW OF SOMEONE WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED, PLEASE CONTACT A MEMBER OF THE EXECUTIVE.

If you have any suggestions or concerns, the people on the executives are the ones you should contact. They will be more than willing to help you out.

Thank you to these people who have filled these positions. They are all volunteers who enjoy playing bridge and want to see the club run smoothly so that everyone will have a pleasant and rewarding time at the bridge table.

Also, thanks to Ron Hemeon for repairing our bridge tables and Roger Kennedy for undertaking repairs and maintenance of the bridge club.

EASY BRIDGE!

EasyBridge! has begun another season. EasyBridge! is being held on Monday Nights at 7:15 PM, taught by Ken Connell and on Thursday mornings at 9:30 AM, taught by June Ogilivie. It is never too late to join so if you know of anyone who might still be interested, give their names to Ken or June.

EASYBRIDGE!3

Graduates of the EasyBridge! lessons are now playing on Monday evenings and Thursday mornings. We hope to see many of these people coming out to play in the regular club games.
